Negombo is a bit of a tourist trap because so close to the airport. So seems that rooms (and some other things) are quite expensive. Icebear Guesthouse has a nice quirky vibe, and a beautiful garden overlooking the ocean. But the room itself was rather shabby, the aircon leaked, the advertised minibar was not there (though they did bring it on request), and on our last day one of the old, heavy windows fell off its hinges as we were opening it. (It needed to be opened to be able to see the view over the garden and the 'sea view' that we were paying for). The restaurant also, while a lovely place to site, had a limited menu and was overpriced for pretty average food. Good points: the garden, helpful staff. Bad points: overpriced, shabby.
